The photobook consists of photography from each of us in the group and the aim is to tell a story of the building through visuals. It should also act as a summary of our findings through interesting captions. The photobook highlights the current state of the building and is categorized by its different components.
PHOTOBOOK
The video was an interesting medium to express information of the building and we were free to explore it. Ultimately, our group produced a video which centered around the statistics of the building as we felt the building had a lot of stories that could be told through this.
VIDEO

The aim of this module is to introduce us to the principles of building preservation and the methods of recording it. The projects involved revolves around three different methods: measured drawings, written documentation and media (photography, published photobooks, website and videomaking). I was the acting leader of a group of 20 and we were assigned the Textile Museum in Kuala Lumpur - which was originally designed by AB Hubback.
This module was conducted over the period of two months.
As the acting leader of the group, I learnt a lot and retrospectively, I would say that this module was perhaps the most beneficial and developed my character as a person as well as my interest in architecture. Ultimately, our works are now being stored in the archive and were used as part of an exhibition on AB Hubback’s greatest architectural works.
We were to document the historically and architecturally significant building in the form of as-built drawings. As the building had no proper documentation, we had to start from scratch. Measurements, sketches and photographs were taken on site.

In terms of the written documentation, we were to write a full report which explains the background, history, concept, style and ornamentation of the building. This involved extensive research through various sources such as online, literature and media from the national archive and from talking to various people. A large portion of the report also contains our own analysis of the building in its current state.
THE REPORT
In terms of drawings, we were expected to complete a full collection of plans, sections, elevations, details and axonometric views. We were also to build a scale model which should provide additional physical information of the building.
